Engel auf der Säule
The ensemble Barocktrompeter Wien was founded in 2007 by Paul Rintelen and specializes primarily in the performance of music for Baroque trumpet. The repertoire ranges from courtly fanfares and processional music to the high art of playing clarino on the natural trumpet in the seventeenth century and orchestral music of the Classical period. In concerts with other ensembles, instrumental soloists and singers, Barocktrompeter Wien plays replicas of original historical instruments to acquaint audiences with the nuances of Viennese musical style and the extraordinary world of sounds found in Early Music. The focus of the ensemble's activities is the musical literature of the Baroque as well as works by anonymous composers and those who are otherwise seldom heard. The group has performed with the Vienna Academy Orchestra (Martin Haselböck), the Clemencic Consort (René Clemencic) at the international music festival MITO SettembreMusica in Milan Cathedral, Arnold Schönberg Chor (Erwin Ortner) and the Vienna Chamber Choir (Michael Grohotolsky), among others.
